My story

Rangers are Africa’s unsung heroes. They don’t just fight poaching - they are conservationists, teachers, community support workers, leaders and much more.

The Wildlife Ranger Challenge, organised by Tusk and culminating on 17th September, celebrates their many roles, and is raising much-needed funds to support their work.

Limpopo National Park in Mozambique is bordered by Kruger National Park in South Africa and by both the Limpopo and Elefantes rivers. With the Shingwedzi River flowing through its heart, Limpopo National Park is populated with a wide range of wildlife, boasts breath-taking scenery and offers a range of exciting wilderness experiences.

With more than one million hectares to patrol, implementing effective anti-poaching strategies as well as leveraging limited resources for sustainable development, remains a significant challenge. A core objective of Peace Parks is to successfully establish an expanded Intensive Protection Zone (IPZ) in the Park. To ensure impact in the IPZ of the Park, senior operational and technical staff are appointed to coordinate strategic ranger patrols.

The support provided by the 2021 Challenge will be used to provide field ranger boots, handset radio batteries, tents for rangers, as well as spare parts and tyres for vehicles. The 2022 WRC will hopefully help procure essential operational kit such as boots, uniforms, tyres and batteries for radios.

Give today, and the Scheinberg Relief Fund will match every dollar donated, amplifying your impact. Follow campaign updates on social media with #ForWildlifeRangers

Peace Parks was established in 1997 with the dream to re-establish, renew and preserve large functional ecosystems that transcend man-made boundaries – thereby protecting and regenerating natural and cultural heritage vital to enabling and sustaining a harmonious future for man and the natural world. Peace Parks shares in and contributes to Africa’s larger vision of establishing a community-centred, regionally-integrated and sustainably-managed network of world-class transfrontier conservation areas.
