My story

Rangers are Africa’s unsung heroes. They don’t just fight poaching - they are conservationists, teachers, community support workers, leaders and more.

Wildlife ACT runs sustainable, long-term monitoring and conservation projects. Our aim is to develop and implement innovative, ground based and sustainable conservation models that save our wildlife, protect our wilderness, and benefit our local communities.

Wildlife ACT has been able to provide sustained, professional monitoring services to more than ten Zululand protected areas for over twelve years. We are a team of experienced conservationists - rolling up our sleeves and getting our hands dirty - to save our endangered and threatened wildlife from extinction.

Information is key to effective management, and our priority species monitors currently work across seven different protected areas in KwaZulu-Natal, collecting crucial in-field data to inform protected area management, as well as conservation strategies of the species that we work with. These passionate, experienced, on-the ground conservationists are doing critical work where it’s needed most, delivering time and expertise, implementing anti-poaching measures, finding and funding equipment, and empowering local communities through a participatory approach.

WRC raises much-needed funds for operating costs, important conservation awareness and ranger appreciation. Our rangers are often overlooked and underappreciated, and this event is a reminder to all of how important they are. It shows our gratitude for the hard work that they do and the sacrifices they make everyday.

Give today, and the Scheinberg Relief Fund will match every dollar donated, amplifying your impact. Follow campaign updates on social media with #ForWildlifeRangers

Wildlife ACT runs sustainable, long-term monitoring and conservation projects. Our aim is to develop and implement innovative, ground based and sustainable conservation models that save our wildlife, protect our wilderness, and benefit our local communities. We assist game reserves by providing tracking and monitoring services free of charge. Wildlife ACT is unique in that we actively advance conservation by initiating, implementing and managing monitoring projects on reserves which do not have existing monitoring programmes in place; or by taking over existing monitoring projects on reserves that can no longer fund or manage them.
